Better Blog
Alright, I’m done with tumblr…my blog is now up at my domain and you can even COMMENT on it — woo! Go see it at herwitz.com/blog.
Seventeenth-and-a-Half Post
It’s happening. I’m buying bowties tonight.
Seventeenth Post
My old timey westernification continued today. I just ordered a pair of these babies: Ariat Rambler cowboy boots = quantifiable increase in amount of incoming poon? I am very excited about them…although it means that I will probably have to buy some brown pants. Maybe. Anyhoo, I wouldn’t have found these sweet boots if it weren’t for my sister, Ariel…I asked her to help...
Sixteenth Post
What’s that, you say — you haven’t read enough about Obama from me? Well, you are in for a treat. My friend Jess recently responded to the Obama plea from my thirteenth post, and what ensued was, I think, an interesting interaction. Peep it: Jess, 2/7/08: So I read your plea to elect Obama. This is what I have to say: I’m totally behind you on the Obama thing. I agree with...
Fifteenth Post
I’m in my Monday class again (the one from my third post), and I think I’ve realized that…it’s a pretty slow and/or boring class. The teacher speaks in the previously-mentioned oh-so-slow cadence, and so I think he says a lot less than he could say in two hours if he were simply to just…well, pick it up. But hey, it does give me the opportunity to extemporize a bit on...
Fourteenth Post
I want to make a million babies. I’m not sure how I’m going to do that — let alone with whom (that’s a half-lie) — but I’ve recently been thinking about the prospect of having children in very real terms. My oldest best friend, Kelsey, is pregnant. All knocked up. (And I’m the godfather—ha!) Now, I don’t want to say that this makes me feel old,...
Thirteenth Post
My plea to everyone (taken from my plea to Valeria): The baby boomers have already fucked things up enough. These two have essentially the same domestic politics (Hillary is certainly more hawkish, however), so consider the effect of a minority in the presidency…what that does for the western world (it’s unprecedented—it’s the equivalent of a jew in the German presidency),...
Twelfth Post
I ain’t tryin’ to say…but I’m just sayin’. (See ninth post.)
Eleventh Post
I think this probably just about says it all: My roomie Aaron composed that little masterpiece, but it was of course empathy with a fellow loser that spurred the Kodak moment. Better luck next year, kids.
Tenth Post

Ninth-and-a-Half Post
Everytime I see the word “ninth” I’m reminded of a moment: Years ago, when I used to take karate, there was this other kid in class named Luis Guzman. Luie’s sad story was that he’d eaten lead paint chips when he was a kid, and ended up with pretty nasty brain damage (but also, mercifully, a hefty settlement). Anyway, we were practicing one day when he told me, with...
Ninth-and-One-Fourth Post
justinporterstephens: Christian:True story: I once won a Van Gogh look-a-like contest. I was on TV and in the Boston Globe, even! Are you sure you don’t mean a Seth Green look-a-like contest? Justin has zung (I think this tense was invented in my apartment last night) me on his blog! Outrage!
Ninth Post
Speaking of suspension (see my seventh post), is this not one sweet, lovely-ass pair of suspenders? Braces are gonna be my new thing, I think. That, and vests. My coworkers already know what I’m talking about here, as I’ve worn both accessories to work over the last couple weeks, but I think I’m gonna have to weight my style more towards the elastic, since vests can really be...

Eighth-and-a-Half Post
da-da-da-da-da-da BRAINPOWER! da-da-da-da-da-da brainpower.
Eighth Post
Harr harr…my friend Lars did one of these silly things with some of us work peeps in it: Square Dance. Sweet!
Seventh Post
I got a great email today from a past instructor of mine, Dr. Ellsworth Lapham Fersch (yes, that is his amazing name — and scroll down to the bottom of that link to get a great little intro on him). I took all three of his courses: Law and Ethics, Law and Psychology, and Delinquents, Criminals, Psychopaths, and Terrorists (that last one went by a much shorter name when I took it), and...
Sixth Post
I just read the coolest thing: Whales Snooze Half a Brain at a Time. Apparently, sperm whales can move — with their what, physical brain-half, I guess — while their cognitive brain-half SLEEPS. Imagine if we could do that…imagine if we could exercise while sleeping, or, I dunno, eat, even! I guess we can do the opposite right now…chatting with friends or something while...
Fifth Post
A response to my last post — how exciting! This comes from my friend Jessica, and it really goes a long way towards giving me a basis for a decent perspective on the topic. I’d like to throw my two cents in on your observation about women and their attitudes towards other women with eating disorders. First off — and this is no exaggeration — I’d say almost every...
Fourth-and-a-Half Post
Hmm. It just occurred to me that I might’ve thought of obesity in a similar light to the eating disorders related to unhealthy loss of weight in my last post. But would that be unfair? I don’t have any anorexic or particularly obese friends to ask this question…that I know of. Also, what does it mean that this line of thinking did not originally occur to me?
Fourth Post
I’ve wanted to post all day, but I’ve had no idea what about. I’ve had some random thoughts and questions: Why is it that most women (insofar as I’ve observed), at least in casual conversation, refer sneeringly to other women who have eating disorders (or who they suspect of as much)? This has always troubled me, because aren’t those women suffering from disease? ...
Third-and-a-Half Post
Hmm…testing the cell phone posting…thing. Yup.
Third Post
I’m sitting in my first class of the semester — called, simply, Conspiracy — right now, listening to the instructor, William Henry Anderson, MD (a medical doctor teaching a class on conspiracy — interesting). He reminds me of my friend Laz’s father, Richard Thompson, in that he speaks in a very measured tone, and seems to think a great deal about what he’s...
Second Post
Words from a man who can do justice to the sentiment of my last post (the uh…part about Obama, not the stuff about that other guy).
First Post
Well…I’ve decided that I’m starting a blog again. The last one I wrote, over on LiveJournal — when I actively maintained it, something like three years ago — would recount my every boring daily experience. This became tiresome, even to me, and I can’t imagine what it was like for anyone else who happened to “check it out.” I’ve decided that...
